One Year Of Lenar /Veela Interview (# 3 ;p)

When my computer decided to kick the bucket.. I thought I would start interviewing people for my blog and change what I was doing with it.
This has given me a chance to connect with people all over the world.
I thought it would be fitting to do another interview with Veela because she has come so far since the last time I did an interview with her.
Drum and Bass names such as TwoThirds and Feint have been working with Veela and their Track Epiphany reached #1 on the liquid dnb charts on trackitdown.
Now becoming quite the in demand vocalist, you can expect to hear Veela in many places! She has been nominated for “Best Pop Song” at the HMMAs for the second year in a row (For Night Vision)
You can look forward to hearing her new album sometime next year!
(I know it was awhile ago but…)The Night Vision Remix contest was quite the Success. What made you chose that track for the contest?
In collaboration with ImageLine, we chose Night Vision as the Pitcher/Newtone Contest song because that’s the only track that I’ve used those plugins in so far. It’s also a very minimalistic song that is easy to make your own, and did they ever! I sifted through about 600 entries and some of them were truly amazing. One in particular that floored me was DJ Damertez’s mix that completely changed the melody of what I wan singing and created a completely different song. So beautiful. He won the “Veela’s Choice Award”. I also loved DJ Bouche’s 90’s style trance remix.
What inspired your new sounds for “My Enemy”
I’m starting to tell my story. My Enemy is part of that and is a beginning song. It’s from back when I began. The sounds are all what I’m seeing, what pictures are in my head. It’s a very metallic sounding song and most of the noises are organic. I’m moving into a much more melodic triphoppy sound that I feel showcases my strengths and storytelling more than the last album.
Looks like you have been collaborating a lot lately! Tell everyone about some of your upcoming releases!
Ooooh I can’t even express how excited and happy I am to be collaborating with so many good people! I’ve released quite a few with Feint and TwoThirds, (who, by the way are the most adorable fun to work with guys you’ll ever meet) and have done some with Ephixa. I’m currently working on vocals for Cold Blank and the ever charming NoneLikeJoshua. The latest release was my collaboration with Blackmill, Let It Be. It’s such a beautiful song. Upcoming is another one with Feint, one with TwoThirds and BadApple, lots with Ephixa and some brand new Veela originals!
For the Nerds: What is one of your favorite plugins at the moment?
Apart from the never-fail Soundgoodizer, (see last year’s post lol) if any vocalists are on a budget and need a good de-esser, there’s a free downloadable plugin called the Spitfish that I use all the time. It does the trick and your highs don’t get too bumped. The new FL Harmor is also killer.
Since you’re all about the female artists, let us know about a lady who has recently inspired you.
I’ve been reading and researching everything I can about Imogen Heap lately. I think my style is being greatly influenced by her’s these days. I relate to her on a deep female-producer-who-does-everything level. And she’s amazing live. I’ve been inspired to let the natural quirks of my voice shine through because of her. Particularly one of her old songs, Come Here Boy.
When is Horizons coming out?
BAHAHAHAAHA!!!
ASK FEINT. ASK FEINT. ASK FEINT.
You appeared in a lovely house tune called “Dreaming Aloud” with TwoThirds. What is a strange dream you have had?
It wasn’t a dream that I had, it was a vision I saw when I sat there and listened to the music. Every time I start a new vocals project, I’ll sit there for about 10 minutes with the song on repeat in my headphones, watching what happens in the pictures in my head. For Dreaming Aloud, I saw a woman in the middle of these four beautiful and malicious glowing red crystal orbs. They were hallow and menacing.
What inspired the lyrics for “Let It Be” (Song by Blackmill ft. Veela)
An amazing man.
Are there any other Veela projects people should be excited for?
Lots and lots of music videos.
