CAMO AND KROOKED - INTERVIEW!

At the moment, Camo and Krooked are best known for their unique take on drum and bass. For the new album, Cross The Line, the talented duo took on other genres to spice things up.

Their latest single “Make The Call” will be released on Sept 12. Take a listen to hear how Camo and Krooked are switching up their sounds. TC delivers amazing vocals over indie house style beats that are sure to get the dance floor excited!

The Flip side is “In The Future” featuring Jenna G and Futurebound. Take a look at little interview I did with the boys to get some insight on the album and some other random Camo and Krooked and info!

THE ALBUM CROSS THE LINE WILL BE OUT ON OCT 3 (HOSPITAL RECORDS)

What can fans expect on your upcoming album?

Our album “Cross The Line” contains a lot of Drum & Bass, but also some Dubstep and (Electro)house.

We did not only want to make music on 175 bpm, because we felt it’s restricting our creativity a bit.

Also the tunes that are on 175bpm, might not have the typical dnb sounds inside. We tried to put our influences from other genres into D&B, and we think it worked out quite well :)

How did artists such as Daft Punk and Example influence you?

Daft Punk are one of the pioneers of electronic music, you just have to love them! We don’t see Example that much as a big influence.

Overall Justice, the Ed Banger crew and the Mau5trap sound are pretty exciting for us at the moment.

What did you like about collaborating with TC, Jenna G and Futurebound?

Collaborating with TC as a vocalist was probably one of the most exciting things we have done so far, because TC has been a big idol in our D&B youth. He is such a talented producer, and also vocalist. A lot of people don’t even know that he did vocals for many great tracks, like “Plastic World” with Pendulum on their first album.

Jenna G and Futurebound are some really chilled personalities, it was super easy to work with them and the result was better than all of us expected it to be!

Make The Call is such a great track! What is the best prank call you have made (or received!)

There was a prank audio file floating around ages ago, which a lot of kids had on their phones. You got called by an unknown person and got played the audio file through the phone, so you thought it’s a real person speaking. The voice was an angry guy who wanted to hurt you because he claimed you touched his girlfriend. Pretty creepy if you ask us!

Tell us a funny story from the road!

A few months ago, we had a gig in Austria. Krooked’s car was parked outside of Vienna a little bit, so we took the underground. When we got to his car… it was not there anymore.

We found out that the place where he parked his car was a police street on that day, because they had a football match going on. So we had to call the police, drive to the other end of Vienna, where they took the car to.

Finally, after we got the car back, we got to drive to the gig. We got there just in time, so we ran to the stage jumped on the stage, and while jumping on it, Krooked ripped his jeans because they were too tight! So he had to get back and change clothes.. when we started, only half of the equipment was working. Murphy’s law in full effect!

What makes Camo and Krooked work so well together?

It’s kind of a symbiosis going on. One part can do better melodies and make better soundscapes, while the other part is really good at arranging and doing the mixdowns. We always try to split our work so that each of us can do what we can do best.

Are there any particular tracks that drew you into the world of drum and bass?

Basically all the tracks around 2003, especially the music High Contrast, Pendulum, Dillinja & co put out around that time. It was just so refreshing!

Any last words?

Thanks to our fans & listeners for reading this interview and supporting us over such a long time now!
