I’ve been a huge fan of Orbital ever since I was a kid. They had been a favourite of my dad so I heard them quite a bit. So finally getting to see them live was an experience I won’t forget. 

The venue ended up being moved to 560 Club which made the show be way more intimate! How many people these days  can say they have seen Orbital in a little club with a few hundred people? 

As the crowd waited I could tell everyone there knew what was up. These were for sure all big fans. A couple songs in we already heard a classic everyone loves - Halcyon + On and On. So many happy faces as soon as we knew what was playing. Orbital mixed it up with “Shot Through the Heart” and “Heaven is a Place on Earth” giving it some extra flavour. Phil and Paul still really know how to work the crowd (even after over two decades of playing shows.) Their energy was amazing. You can still tell what passion and love Orbital has for their art. A slightly dubbed out version of Satan was played and the crowd loved it! Orbital really took the dub style sound and made it their own. When Belfast came on I’m pretty sure the entire crowd had a moment of pure joy.  The entire night I had a huge smile on my face. I think everyone else there would say the same thing. 

Again.. this was a once in lifetime experience! I am so excited to share more from that night soon!

So after being a little whiner and having the insane notion of possibly missing this amazing show, I sucked it up and went to see Dub FX Last night. Hands down THE BEST live performance I have ever seen. He was performing with the lovely Flower Fairy who had just as much radiant energy as Dub FX did.

(For starters I’d like to say that the openers, Generic and Snarephobe all kicked ass too!)

I had never seen the Spice Lounge that packed before (let alone a sold out show) As soon as Dub FX and Flower Fairy came out, everyone freaked out! For those that are not in the know, DUB FX makes all of his music with his voice and loop station. Everything you hear is made with his mouth. 

The show ended up being so much more than I expected. They went all over the place with originals and covers and an array of genres like drum and bass, hip hop, reggae, breaks.. and more.

Dub Fx and Flower did a beautiful version of “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”

They also did Wonderwall and Insane in the Membrane (with CAde).. which were both equally awesome!

The vibe and energy was amazing throughout the entire show..

Near the end he starting performing some pretty intense drum and bass and everyone went insane.  I am so happy I went and have had a smile on my face since then. It is truly amazing what great music does does for the soul.
